Revere on the Move

Nov 30, 2011 No Comments ›› admin On October 15 a beautiful and sunny fall day, residents from all across Revere came
together to inaugurate the first official community Urban Trail and to launch the Revere
on the Move campaign.

Approximately 400 people attended the event demonstrating that Revere residents are on
the move towards healthier eating and active living. During the event, families had fun
walking the trail and children of all ages participated in the different activities offered
which included dancing, bubble blowing, hula hoops, jump rope and face-painting.
Participants also had an opportunity to enjoy free healthy snacks. In addition, the
celebration included fun activities organized by Playworks and a fitness demonstration
provided by Millions of Muscles.

The celebration could not have taken place without the hard work from the organizing
committee and wonderful student volunteers from the following Youth Empowered
for Success (YES) programs: Future Teachers, Health and Fitness, and the Community
Service team. The Girls Scouts were also a great support during this event.

Revere CARES would like to thank the following individuals from the organizing
committee for their commitment and support: Nancy Barile, Kevin Dacey, Laura
D’Amico, Julie DeMauro-Doucette, Charlotte Ferrante, Jamie Flynn, Lona Frongillo,
Assunta Guarino, Jeannie LaRosa, Adrienne Maguire, Councilor Charlie Patch, Chris
Pierannunzi, and Terence Reardon.

Revere on the Move is an initiative supported by the Revere CARES coalition, the City
of Revere and the Massachusetts General Hospital for Children and Funded by Mass in
Motion, Massachusetts Department of Public Health. Its mission is to create policy and
environmental changes in the schools and community-at-large to promote and support
healthy eating and active living.
