Revere’s Response to the Opioid Crisis

Jul 16, 2015 Comments Off on Revere’s Response to the Opioid Crisis admin On July 13th, representatives of Revere CARES and the City of Revere's Department of Healthy Community Initiatives addressed the City Council to report on Revere's response to the opioid crisis. Together they presented on what Revere has done in the and is doing in the areas of prevention, intervention, treatment and recovery, and shared identifiable gaps based on Governor Baker's Opioid Working Group's report.

Revere is the 7th hardest hit city in the Commonwealth in terms of opioid overdose deaths, and overdoses as well as overdose deaths in 2015 have already surpassed records from 2014.  This is why Revere CARES and the City of Revere, along with other community stakeholders, have worked to assess what more can be done. We all recognize that no single organization will stop the crisis in Revere, but by working together we can create a continuum of care that prevents substance use disorders, intervenes and helps those who need care, and supports people in recovery as well as families.
