Become an Action Parent!

Nov 30, 2011 No Comments ›› admin

During the months of November and December our coalition will be doing their annual
Power of Action pledge drive during parent teacher conferences at the schools. We are
asking parents and caregivers to sign the Power of Action pledge to help us to continue to
reduce the use of alcohol and drugs among our youth.

Action Parents pledge to:

  • Talk to their children about not using drugs and alcohol.

  • Enforce the consequences for breaking the rules.

  • Join our parent network to receive information about substance abuse, get tips
and information about different health issues, be linked to other community members, and
have an opportunity to voice their concerns as a parent.

Last year we had over a 1,000 parents sign the pledge, and we hope that parents will
continue to support us as we work together to make Revere a healthier community. As
a coalition, we understand that reducing substance abuse cannot be done by one group
alone. Parents play a key role in substance abuse prevention, and we know that they are
often overwhelmed and isolated. It is our hope that in the coming year we will be able to
provide additional resources for parents to support them in their prevention efforts.

If you are a parent and cannot attend the parent teacher conferences this year, but
would still like to stay connected, we encourage you to join our mailing list to receive
information from Revere CARES, and be updated about what is happening in our
community.
